Sunflowers

Sunflowers make a great fall activity. We grow them in late summer so they are big and showy for the first weeks of school. Get out the watercolors and pens for sunflower portraits, show pictures of Van Gogh. Decorate envelopes for seed packets to take home or give away. Incorporate math with grouping, and counting. The kids love this time of year!

Coordinated Curriculum:

Alden Alvarado

Alden helps with the school garden program at Lafayette Elementary in (sometimes) sunny West Seattle. She loves to help the kids get their hands on nature, from worm bins to hydroponic basil. When not at school she can be found in her own garden or exploring the coast with her family and lovable golden doodle.
